Did You Know?
- e-cigarrettes are the most popular tobacco product among youth. Studies have found that 40 percent of American Indian high schoolers use e-cigarettes.
- e-cigarettes contain nicotine as well as toxic chemicals that can cause permanent damage to your lungs and brain.
- The CDC found that 38 percent of high school students and 13 percent of middle school children have tried vaping.
- Even though the e-cigarette industry is less regulated than cigarettes, it is still illegal for minors under age 18 to buy vaping pens.
- If you’ve talked yourself into the idea that you are “just” using e-cigarettes, you are on a path to becoming addicted to nicotine.
- Every e-cigarette – no matter the shape and size – is terrible for you. There is no way around it. You are doing real harm to your body every time you use one. If you haven’t tried one, don’t. And if you do use them, it’s time to stop.
- Vaping permanently affects the the parts of the brain responsible for focus and learning, decision making and impulse control.
